New Detection Technology Extends CO2 Use in Refrigeration

The more widespread use of CO2 in refrigeration is set to gain major impetus from new gas detection technology that enables leaks to be monitored at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees. The adoption of CO2 as one of the most practical natural refrigerant alternatives to halocarbons is key to reducing and eventually eliminating the use of environmentally damaging greenhouse gases in refrigeration. The breakthrough in gas sensor technology means that the danger to human health involved in using C02, an odourless but dangerous gas in enclosed environments, no longer poses an obstacle to its use as a refrigerant in commercial and industrial applications. Up until now, no sensor on the market was robust enough to monitor extreme temperatures for C02. More..

Refrigerant Plant Operators in breach of maintenance regulations

Annual gas detectors checks are compulsory as they are required by EN378 and the F Gas regulations on halocarbon gas. However according to Murco an alarming number of plant operators are not checking their systems on an annual basis and are now in breach of these regulations. To combat the problem Murco have launched two new methods of system checking a calibration kit and a gas ampoule test kit which will simplify compliance. More..

New Multi-Lingual Gas Detection Website

To comply with new legislation and to save your company money in the long term, all commercial buildings must now be fitted with gas leak detectors. Murco Ltd announces the release of their new multi-lingual website More..

Gas Detection: The Invisible Threat

Today’s and tomorrow’s world is digitally joined up. Any system or service for the security monitoring of buildings and enclosed places of all kinds has to be integrated and comprehensive to compete in an ever more demanding and sophisticated market place. Dr. Lorcan Maher’s message to security companies is simple and blunt — embrace and include gas detection and all other risks capable of being monitored electronically or risk being overtaken by new and broader spectrum systems and services based on today’s smart building and facilities management systems. Refrigerant Leak Detection Regulations still Unknown

Far-reaching International Standards and Regulations requiring Refrigerant leak Detection Still Not Generally Known.

“A high proportion of the users of refrigeration and air-conditioning worldwide are still simply unaware of the wide-ranging implications of prevailing Standards– and the same could be said even of a surprising number of professionals in the equipment and service sectors.” This was the challenging assertion by Dr Lorcan J. Maher, Managing Director of MURCO, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of advanced refrigerant leak detection equipment. More..

Directive on Ozone Depleting Substances

A high proportion of the users of refrigeration and air-conditioning in the UK, and Europe generally are still simply unaware of the wide-ranging implications of the European Community Regulation that became legally binding on 1 October 2000 – and the same could be said of a surprising number of people in the equipment and service sectors.” This was the challenging assertion by Dr Lorcan J. Maher, Managing Director of MURCO, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of advanced refrigerant leak detection equipment. More…
