Continuous Gas Monitoring Systems

Real-time gas detection using remote sensors – offering continuous monitoring – can offer a better solution than conventional air sampling – aspirated – sampling systems.

Continuous gas monitoring allows for every sampling point (gas leak sensor) to be monitored at all times therefore the concentration of gas shown on the display reflects the actual situation at that point – at any given moment.

The benefits of continuous Gas monitoring through fixed gas detector units are many;

  • delays in measuring and transporting air samples are eliminated
  • the issue of blocked plastic tubes / filters is addresssed
  • possible kinks in tubes and similar complications during installation are no longer a problem.

Also it’s worth noting that many toxic gases that can be encountered in work situations and commercial premises have very low limits in terms of regulatory compliance – these are known as “ceiling values” and its critical that these limits are not exceeded – both from a legal and health and safety perspective. So air sampling methods can fall short of what is required for certain gases.
It makes sense for these gases to be continuously monitored – using fixed gas detection – in any location where employees are at risk of exposure to the gas.

One of the key considerations in terms of delivering on health and safety requirements while also managing costs – is the need to carefully specify an appropriate number of gas leak detector units to be installed. Good planning and the correct specification of appropriate monitoring systems can ensure that the most appropriate and cost-effective gas detection system is installed at the outset.
