Choose Murco gas detectors for your refrigerant gas detection needs.

Fixed refrigerant gas detection is made easier thanks to the highly-advanced Murco Gas Detector (MGD). The MGD is more than ideal for your companies gas detection needs. It is the ideal solution for all installations that require a superior, yet highly affordable free-standing gas detection device. The device is made up of one to six remote access gas sensors that are inter-connected and powered by one controlling unit. The controller will display all audio, visual and relay alarms that are applicable for gas detection. This intuitive system is made available on one of two alarm levels. In terms of applicable usage, the Murco Gas Detector sensor is perfect when one needs to:

  • Discover the location of refrigerant gases which includes hydrocarbons, halocarbons, ammonia and CO2.
  • Quickly detect the levels of combustible gases in the atmosphere; gasses such as hydrogen, LPG, butane, methane, propane and more.
  • Accurately detect VOC and toxic gases (this includes but is not limited to acetone, ethanol, benzene and others).

There is a wide range of sensor enclosures that are designed to suit a variety of uses, depending on your requirements and the practical considerations you’ll need to take into account.

It is of course critical that the main alarm unit as well as its sensors should be located carefully in terms of their proximity to mechanical appliances (automatic doors, construction line equipment and so on). It’s also important to avoid placing the machine near or around areas of high thermal variance (air conditioners/heaters) or areas that are prone to moisture.

The sensor cabling should not be routed outside of the premises or through overhead cables that lie between buildings. Keep the sensor cabling well away from any telephone cables or mains – we recommend a distance of five hundred meters or more. When the fixed refrigerant gas detection device is first switched on, please allow for a three minute delay before system activation begins. This is necessary as the sensor unit must warm up in order for an accurate gas detection reading.
