Sound reasons for installing gas detection solutions in the UK

Monday, December 19th, 2011

The actual cost of a plant closure due to an undetected gas leak can be difficult to calculate but there is no doubt it will be costly. The undetected leak can lead to an increase in insurance premiums. If staff or members of the public are injured in anyway, not only is there the burden of responsibility but insurance premiums may increase further. Generally insurance companies will require adequate gas detection to be in place before they will provide insurance but the gas detection (more…)

Gas Safety with Gas Detectors

Monday, December 19th, 2011

There are a huge range of situations that call for the use of gas detectors. Any gases that pose a risk to human health require a gas detector to be present. Where gases are used that may cause harm to the environment a gas detector is also necessary. (more…)

Importance of Ammonia Gas Leak Detection

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Ammonia is one of the most widely produced gases in the world making it a major consideration in gas leak detection. It has uses in a broad variety of industries. Amongst other things it is widely used in the production of petrochemicals, fertilizer and paper. In the form of anhydrous ammonia it is widely used as a coolant for large scale industrial and (more…)

Importance of gas leak detection with the use of refrigeration units.

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

When we understand the gases used in the refrigeration process we begin to see the importance of gas leak detection where they are used. Typically refrigeration works by absorbing heat into a liquid or gas called a refrigerant and moving it with a pump somewhere else. Some gases and liquids have better heat absorbing properties than others. The gases most commonly used in refrigeration are Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s), Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC’s) and other hydrocarbons such as methane. Ammonia is also sometimes used. (more…)

Gas Detectors for Protection against Explosions and Contamination

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Gas poses a silent threat that can be fatal if undetected. Individuals are often under the impression that they will easily be able to notice the presence of a harmful gas through smell however poisonous gases like carbon monoxide can be odourless, tasteless and colourless. (more…)

A gas detector you can trust: the Murco Gas Sensor.

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Fixed gas detector sensors come in all shapes and sizes, and are made to suit the individual needs of each business. However there is one product that comes out head and shoulders above the others in the marketplace and that is the Murco Gas Sensor (the MGS). The MGS is a highly advanced fixed gas detector and one that can be used to help detect a wide variety of gases. Murco’s modern sensor is ideal for either stand-alone usage, or as a combined solution, built into the control system, or into the building management system itself. (more…)
