Across the UK gas sensors, monitors and detectors are an industry standard anywhere dangerous or harmful gases are used, stored or produced. Most countries outline particular safety standards that require through legislation the use of gas sensors in these situations. Refrigerants in particular have many international accords mandating the minimisation of their leakage in to the environment. (more…)

Gas sensors standard in UK industry.
Wednesday, November 30th, 2011Gas detectors in the UK
Friday, July 15th, 2011 There are various types of gas detectors used across the UK to detect potentially hazardous gases. These gases include toxic, combustible, VOC and refrigerant gases which can compromise the health and safety of staff. Hazardous gases are used in a range of applications in the UK. Cold storage warehouses, boiler rooms, supermarkets and industrial plants all use a number of gases. (more…)
Fixed Gas Detection – What Gas, What Gas Leak Sensor?
Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 The type of gas you need to detect will dictate the type of gas leak sensor that offers the best solution for your business needs. In general sensors are grouped into four segments – Semiconductor (SC), Electrochemical (EC), Catalytic (CAT) and Infrared. Semiconductor (SC) are applied in a wide range of types of gas detection covering combustible, toxic and refrigerant gas detection. SC’s are highly economical and they typically have a lifespan that ranges between 5 and 8 years. In the past these sensors were prone to cross sensitivity issues however this has been resolved through a combination of filtered sensors, by using time delay within the electronics and through amending the threshold settings on the alarm.
